NetworkZ Academy offers a full range of debriefing strategies and course delivery support services to ensure and sustain positive effects of the programme.

This external training by NetworkZ Team experts ensures the quality of content and delivery is maintained to a high standard.

Technical Scenario Development Training

Instructor Training Stage 1 Short Course

This course is an 8-week short course with two half-day remote workshops and a two-day face-to-face workshop, plus online support and peer learning over the course duration. The course is appropriate for any healthcare professional in an education or training role.

  • Understand teamwork principles and practice and educational theory
  • Create safe and effective learning environments
  • Apply debriefing principles: Three-phase debriefing framework and Advocacy Inquiry
  • Understand latent safety threats in clinical settings

Participants will complete this programme with the knowledge and confidence to safely convene and facilitate simulation and other training sessions in their hospitals.

ANZCA SMOs who complete the 8-week short course are eligible to use the training to become EMAC instructors.

Additionally, participants will receive a 12-month Instructor Academy membership and access to the NetworkZ Resource Hub!

Instructor Training Stage 2 Short Course

Designed for those team members committed to becoming active members of the NetworkZ Instructor Academy in their hospital. 

One-day face-to-face or digitally-delivered training, covering:

  • In-depth practice and critique of the debriefing process
  • Safe and constructive debriefing techniques for difficult situations
  • Ensuring positive outcomes

Additionally, participants will receive a 12 months Instructor Academy membership and access to the NetworkZ Resource Hub!

Technical Training Stage 1

The two-day face-to-face technical training is a guided hands-on learning experience to upskill individuals in the technical aspect of running simulations.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Operate the SimMan 3G and relate this to other Laerdal Human Patient Simulators and perform normal start-up, diagnosing faults, and basic repair and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the use of LLEAP software to run simulations.
  • Apply moulage and the setup process of surgical models.
  • Evaluate hazards and determine strategies for risk reduction of in-situ simulations.

Technical training is designed for use with the NetworkZ programme but is equally valuable to anyone who wishes to effectively provide technical support to simulation training.

Scenario Development Training

The Scenario Development Training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design effective simulation for educational purposes in healthcare. The course consists of a 2-hour remote workshop and a two-day face-to-face workshop.

  • Learn and apply the NetworkZ process of designing and validating scenarios
  • Design and use LLEAP software to programme a scenario
  • Apply realistic moulage techniques for a manikin/standardized patient
  • Develop a greater awareness of the versatility of the SimMan 3G and NetworkZ programmes

Participants will be able to develop technical knowledge to identify the advanced features and technical pitfalls in scenario design and setup.

As a member of the NetworkZ Academy, you receive access to everything you need to lead the NetworkZ programmes. Membership for 12 months is included in every Instructor course enrolment.
